Bringing You Guitar Secrets From the Far Ends of the Globe

hey Guitarists! 🙂

Claude Johnson here with a very exciting bit of news.
I’ve been “traveling to the far ends of the earth” to
find the hottest guitarists, and coolest techniques
and shortcuts to help you become a better player.

So, this past June I flew down to Argentina to learn
from (and film) one of the hottest unknown
virtuoso electric guitarists on the planet.

I even brought my mini-cam and got some “on the road”
footage.  Here’s a 30 second clip that I think you’ll
enjoy watching.

Stay tuned for some killer virtuoso guitar secrets!

  1. Hi Claude – great – but would be cool to have more of the guitarist – beautiful that you are – it would be good to see some more

  2. Is that all there is? A 30 second clip with 20+ seconds of it being your face, and one tapping run… How ’bout more guitar and less face.

  3. Really?Just one little run makes you a superstar nowdays? I should be fucking rich. How ’bout more music so we can see what he’s got.

  4. He shows solo promise to be sure. I can’t tell enough about how he plays to know if he is the next super star. Does he sing or write good material?

  5. see the video of Tony Melendez on MY SPACE page videos ‘Senor Pescado’

he also is from Colombia, born with no arms, plays with his feet
all of us have it so lucky
    Viva Colombia [and Argentina also]
    thanks for the vid

  6. The fellow may indeed be what you say, it’s kinda hard to tell with only a few seconds, not nearly enough to form a real opinion. But thanks for trying to give him some exposure.
So have you got more coming of this fellow to share with us?
Are there others you filmed we are going to see?
Did you get to ride on the Pampas with the Gauchos?
And is the Tango still number one down there?

  7. You have got to be kidding Yngwie was doing those riffs or exercises 20 years ago ITS JUST A BUNCH OF NOISE WITH DISTORTION ON IT ,all of these jerks sound the same not one of them plays with any feeling, passion or sense of melody ,ITS REALLY SAD to see all that dedication and discipline wasted in the pursuit of speed and playing drivel, at least Yngwie was original when he came out ,none of these guys will ever make money except maybe in teaching other idiots who want to play in this way. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to some real music and guys who can write songs ,the intro to Freebird says more that 3 cds worth of some speedfreak playing arpeggios .Listen to Hendrix listen to Stevie Ray ,listen to Santana ,hell even Neil Schon listen to my stuff once you hear melody and emotion in music it will be hard to listen to mind less crap again,Keep ROckin,Jack Starr

  8. I agree with a few others, a pentatonic finger tapping does not maqke anyone a “Great Guitarist” but, you did say, “Future.”

  9. Hi Claude,

You have been sending me emails for the past year. But the Fusion package
is the one that is impossible to past by. Derryl is incredible. This is
what I have been looking for. I can’t wait to start in on the DVD’s.
I am going to master all the techniques.

    Thanks again,

    Bruce

  10. You traveled all the way to Argenina for that? Man, I could’ve loaned you my scratchy vinyl 1965 Paul Butterfield album. There is some real guitar playing there.

  11. I like guitars to sound like guitars…this tapping stuff sounds like a synthesizer. Try to get a synthesizer to sound like John Lee Hooker…ya can’t do it bro.

  12. Hi Claude,

So far I’ve been trying to follow/learn the movement of your fingers for the lesson you presented in your”Killer Guitar” DVD presentation but since I am still an amateur lead guitar learner, I have the difficulty following your fingers movement on the frets. It’s just like the same situation when I was watching Mr. Eric Clapton closeup in one of his concerts. Do you have any DVD presentation where you slow down the movement of your fingers so that I can follow the same pattern?? I can’t be a good student when my teacher is also not good!

  13. I have to agree with a few others. I sounds like a robot is playing the guitar. Give him an unplugged acoustic and have him make a video. I would very interested to see how he would approach his techniques without any effects….Thanks larry george

  14. When this guy plays actual melody at a reasonable, listenable speed, it’s GREAT! … AND he has a nice technique. However, when the speed goes into hyper-drive, it’s all a sound-blur with only the final, top-note having any definition. Playing TOO fast is NOT musical and becomes totally mechanical. Only a robot ear and mind could ever have any appreciation for such non-musical noise. A real musician plays TO an audience; that means they play and ‘deliver’ with emotion. Feeling gets lost if and/or when the notes run together in a flurry. Singing words/lyrics too fast is obviously ridiculous. Today’s digital technology can compress the time on any song without changing the key…. Question is, who bothers to do that? AND… why would they??? He’s got chops, but: In terms of taking in ‘audio nourishment’, who wants to ‘drink’ a steak? Music should be a tasty and savory experience for everyone’s ears, not a ‘flash in the pan’.

  15. Guitar in the extreme: (Weather examples)
Who enjoys a flood by going for a swim?
Who builds a snowman in a blizzard?
Who flies a kite in a tornado?
    Who shampoos in a hurricane?

Point: Achieving the status of ‘Fastest Guitarist’ only gets you a line in the Guinness Book…. it doesn’t make you a MUSICIAN.

  16. Brother, Are you aware of the milloins of guitar players out there who have mastered one or two licks because they only ever play those one or two licks? I’m afraid that I am a little suspicious and very sceptical regarding this fellow’s ability to fill a two-hour set of songs with a new style of out-of-this-world guitar playing. Please don’t think that I’m being critical – I’m just being realistic in a deceiving world. Besides, I’m the world’s next greatest guitar virtuoso – because of the intelligence that I apply to my training. You will know me soon. Thanks, and keep up the fantastic work.
